Palika McNamara
Grief Specialist
I chose to specialise in grief because, over the years, I noticed that beneath so much of people's pain lies unprocessed loss. Whether through the death of a loved one, the end of a relationship, a major life transition, or the loss of a dream, grief has the power to affect every aspect of our lives—emotionally, physically, psychologically, and spiritually.
What has stayed with me most throughout my work is not only the depth of people's pain, but the profound loneliness that often accompanies it. Many clients arrive feeling completely alone, afraid to tell anyone how intense their pain really is. They quietly carry thoughts that life will never feel meaningful again or feel as though their grief is slowly consuming them. Every conversation with friends or family can leave them feeling even more isolated because no one can see the invisible weight they are carrying.
One of the greatest privileges of my work is creating a space where clients feel truly seen, deeply understood, accepted without judgment, and safe enough to share the parts of their grief they have kept hidden from everyone else. In that space, they begin to realise they no longer have to carry their grief alone.
I believe there is no "right" way to grieve. Every person, every relationship, and every loss is unique. My approach is deeply person-centred, working collaboratively with each client to honour their individual experience and help them move towards a life that holds both their loss and hope for the future.
It is a privilege to walk alongside people through one of life's most difficult experiences and help them discover that healing doesn't mean leaving their loved one behind—it means learning how to carry both love and loss while continuing to live.
